Because they have no alternative sources of income, many girls and young women in Honduras struggle to get by in poorly paid jobs, mainly as domestic workers or street vendors. Their working conditions are extremely precarious: 15-hour working days, miserable wages, no employment contracts, no social benefits. Many of them are exposed to violence and sexual assault.

In order to open up better career prospects for them, the project enables 750 girls to complete their regular school education and/or take vocational courses. Psychological, medical and legal counselling as well as support in finding work further empower the girls.
